Welcome to the Business and Finance section of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District website. The Business Office strives to support the district’s educational programs and opportunities for our students while focusing on fiscal responsibilities. We operate on a daily basis to maximize our taxpayer dollars and to achieve optimum operational efficiencies.
We are currently concentrating our attention on the impact of the Property Tax Cap of Chapter 97 of the Laws of 2011. This law has caused changes to the district’s budget process. Since the Spring of 2011, we have been working in conjunction with each of the district’s stakeholders to prepare for this legislation. The district's budget has been under the amount in the first two years of the Property Tax Cap.
Another area of focus is the maintenance and improvement of the district’s school buildings and infrastructure. During the 2012-2013 school year the district completed over $5 million in infrastructure upgrades funded by the Capital Reserve Fund. The Business Office continues to receive positive audit reports from our external auditors, internal auditors and state auditors. This achievement is attributed to our commitment of creating and monitoring strong fiscal controls. These achievements, as well as strong fiscal planning, have led to our district’s credit rating of “AAA” status.
