Business and Finance

Welcome to the Business and Finance section of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District website.  The Business Office strives to support the district’s educational programs and opportunities for our students while focusing on fiscal responsibilities.  We operate on a daily basis to maximize our taxpayer dollars and to achieve optimum operational efficiencies.

We are currently concentrating our attention on the impact of the Property Tax Cap of Chapter 97 of the Laws of 2011.  This new law will cause changes to the district’s budget process.  Since the Spring of 2011, we have been working in conjunction with each of the district’s stakeholders to prepare for this new legislation.

Another area of focus is the maintenance and improvement of the district’s school buildings and infrastructure.  We have numerous capital projects scheduled to be completed during the school year.  The majority of this work is supported by the voter approved Capital Reserve Fund.  Please visit the Capital Projects section of this website for a detailed list of the projects.  It is our goal to complete the majority of these projects by the end of the Summer, 2012.

Over the past several years, the Business Office has received positive audit reports from our external auditors, internal auditors and state auditors.  This achievement is attributed to our commitment of creating and monitoring strong fiscal controls.  These achievements, as well as strong fiscal planning, have led to our district’s credit rating of “AAA” status.

Please feel free to contact the Business Office  with any questions you may have related to the district’s finances.
